Dr. Poole

Dr. Poole

The food traditions of my ancestors were Christmas and Thanksgiving. They ate corn, beans, and squash. On Thanksgiving they also ate potatoes, grapes, and apples. Pilgrims ate these certain Thanksgiving foods. These are my ancestors traditions and what they were used to eating. They ate turkey as well.

The types of foods I eat consists of many things like Chinese food, fruits, vegetables, spanish food, and seafood. I start my day off with some cereal or a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. Then for lunch I eat many different things like a sandwich, or some pizza and I always have to have a beverage like for example a Arizona fruit punch juice. Finally for dinner I have some basic foods like chicken, rice, steak or take out food. I eat take out foods such as Mc Donald's, Burger king, Subway, and KFC.

In my opinion i don't think modern Americans have strong food traditions because the only real food celebrations and traditions we have are Christmas and Thanksgiving. Christmas I barely consider a food tradition because in this modern time we usually just open up presents and show our love to our loved ones. Then we just carry on with our regular eating ways. Thanksgiving is the only real tradition where modern Americans eat different and some of the same foods as our ancestors that goes back to old Native American traditions. This is why I don't think modern Americans have strong food traditions.
